Principles and practices of inclusive writing
Communicators, whether wordsmiths or speakers, increasingly recognize the importance of reviewing their language practices to ensure more inclusive content. Inclusive communications involve gender diversity but also cultural diversity, such as indigenous, racialized, or under-represented communities.
This learning session explores the principles of inclusive writing, such as epicene formulations, gender-neutral pronouns, and gender-dominant words. It also examines current appropriate terminology for cultural communities, namely LGBTQ+ or BIPOC communities.
